The Promoting Autism Inclusion and Representation (PAIR) Team is currently recruiting participants for a study on the disparity between the knowledge of lab staff and faculty regarding autism and creating inclusive research environments for autistic student researchers. The information gained from this study will be used to create an effective, evidence-based training program for faculty/ lab staff to increase awareness of autism and autistic students’ needs and give concrete tips on how to promote acceptance of autism in one’s research lab.

Faculty and Lab Staff who are involved in running a research lab in a STEM field are invited to participate in a focus group to share: information about your lab environment, mentorship style, and current knowledge and experiences related to neurodiversity. Focus groups can be on Zoom or in person at the University of Maryland. Participation will include a 15-minute pre-survey and a focus group that will take about 75-90 minutes. You will receive a $50 gift card for your participation. Alternative formats to the focus group are available to those who would be more comfortable with a one-on-one format or some other alternative. Please contact us for more information.
