The purpose of this study is to investigate the physiological aspects of anxiety in nonautistic and autistic adolescents through the collection of heart rate and breathing.

WHO:  11 to 14-year-olds, with and without a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder

WHAT: The study will include the following:

  • A 2-3 hour virtual parent interview for individuals with an autism diagnosis
  • A visit to the UMD College Park campus (2-2.5 hours)
  • Wearing a heart rate band for 3 days, 5 minutes each
  • Text messages for 5 days and wearing a heart rate band during those 5 days (5 hours each)

Participants will receive up to $195-225 following completion of this study.
