Centering the Internal Experience of Autism to Enhance Identification and Treatment

This talk presents the application of the Causal Model of Neurodevelopmental Conditions to autism.  The case is made that internal experiences can drive external behavioral expressions in autism and that understanding internal experiences can enhance autism diagnosis and treatment development.  Furthermore,  autistic people can provide valuable report on their internal experiences. Community-based participatory research techniques including co-production are essential tools for accessing that information.
