Deborah Badawi

Debbie Badawi is a Behavioral-Developmental Pediatrician in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing medical school and her pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins, she did a fellowship in Behavioral-Developmental Pediatrics at the University of Maryland. Her clinical experience includes primary and specialty care, as well as consultation on multidisciplinary teams in the school system and in health care settings. After serving on the faculty of the University of Maryland for 10 years, and as the Medical Director of the Maryland School for the Blind for several years she became the Medical Director of the Office for Genetics and People with Special Health Care Needs OGPSHCN) in the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. After subsequently serving as the chief of the new Child and Adolescent Health Unit in the Office of Family and Community Health at DHMH, Dr. Badawi recently returned to clinical practice at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she is an Assistant Professor in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.

Dr. Badawi’s clinical expertise is in treating behavioral problems in children with developmental disabilities, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her research interest is focused on resilience in children. She is dedicated to supporting the development of healthy families and communities in order to promote positive youth development.
