We are looking for transition-age autistic individuals (ages 14-29) to participate in a research study about their workplace experiences and perspectives.

The study will include a 30-90 minute interview via Zoom, a short 5-minute demographic questionnaire, and an optional 20-30 minute follow-up interview.
Participants will receive $15 as compensation for their time and effort.

STUDY - Is your child 8-12 years old with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)?
Participation involves four sessions, each lasting up to 2 hours: two virtually over Zoom two at the Maryland Neuroimaging Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. During your first Zoom visit, you will participate in a parent interview with our lab's clinical psychologist to discuss your child's behavior and development. In the second Zoom visit, your child will play games and watch some videos with one of our researchers. Games involve things like hearing stories about characters and determining what they would or should do next. During your visit to the Maryland Neuroimaging Center, your child will play games while lying inside an MRI scanner. You will be compensated monetarily for your time. After the MRI session, your child will also get a picture of his or her brain!

NEW UMD STUDY: SUPPORTING YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH ASD IN THE WORKPLACE
WHO: Participating pairs of:
1. Vocational Training Personnel (i.e., job coaches, transition specialists, workplace managers, employers, etc.): Must be at least 18 years old, currently provide on-the-job support to a youth or young adult with ASD in a community employment setting, and have no prior experience with video-based intervention.
2. Employees/Clients with ASD: Must be 14-25 years old with a diagnosis of ASD.
WHAT: The vocational training staff person will receive training on how to create and implement a video-based intervention to teach new job skills to their employees/clients with ASD at their workplace. All study procedures will take place at the job site. This study will include an initial evaluation and two-session training for the staff person, followed by bi-weekly sessions over the course of 2-3 months for the participating pair.
WHY: Video-based intervention is customizable, cost-effective, evidence-based practice that can be used by individuals as an instructional self-prompting support to perform complex skills at work.
At completion of the study, each staff person will receive $100 and their employee/client will receive $50 as compensation for their time and effort.
