PEERS and EFFECT (for high school students)

The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) is a multi-week, evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated teens who are interested in making and keeping friends. UMD’s PEERS program is specially designed for college-bound high school students. It includes separate group sessions for teens and their parents.

Executive Functioning for Effective Cognitive Transformation (EFFECT) serves to help teens improve their executive functioning skills in order to be more successful with home, school, and social activities. UMD’s EFFECT program is specially designed for college-bound high school students, and works best if the student’s social skills are not a concern, or have been addressed through the PEERS program first. It includes both individual and group sessions.

For more information, check out the PEERS and EFFECT webpage. Email hespclinic@umd.edu for current tuition rates and other questions, or to start the application process.
